Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Groundskeeping Supervisor in Jacksonville, FL to support Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. In this hands-on landscaping and grounds maintenance role, you will help lead daily operations while maintaining the campus grounds, including mowing, string trimming, edging, blowing, trash pickup, bed weeding, and shrub pruning. This position is ideal for candidates with groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, horticulture, or outdoor maintenance experience who enjoy working outdoors and staying active throughout the day. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with work performed in varying weather conditions. You will supervise and support grounds crews, ensure work is completed safely and efficiently, and help maintain a clean, attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a great opportunity to work in a team-oriented campus setting with year-round outdoor work in a favorable Florida climate.

Compensation for this role is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily groundskeeping and landscaping activities across campus properties.
  • Assign work to groundskeepers and lead team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Perform hands-on grounds maintenance including string trimming, edging, blowing, trash removal, bed weeding, shrub pruning, and general landscape upkeep.
  • Operate and monitor landscaping equipment, power tools, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Inspect grounds and identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, or appearance issues.
  • Coordinate with team members, vendors, and contractors to address landscaping and grounds-related projects.
  • Ensure grounds maintenance work meets quality standards and site requirements.
  • Support safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work outdoors for extended periods in heat, humidity, cold, and other weather conditions.
  • Walk long distances throughout campus and assist with physically demanding tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, horticulture, or related outdoor maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of groundskeeping practices and power landscape equipment.
  • Valid non-commercial driver's license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, crouching, walking, and standing.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and contractors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Groundskeeping Supervisor, Crew Lead, Landscaping Foreman, or similar leadership role.
  • Experience maintaining college campuses, commercial properties, parks, municipalities, or large outdoor facilities.
  • Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation systems, and landscape improvement practices.
