Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable and hardworking Groundskeeper to maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and outdoor areas of a 40-acre residential community. This position combines general grounds maintenance, landscaping, property cleanup, and resident trash removal.
Because this position works within a residential community serving elderly residents, the ideal candidate is not only hardworking and comfortable with outdoor physical labor, but also professional, respectful, and customer-service oriented.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, property maintenance, or outdoor labor experience preferred
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
Good communication and customer service skills
Comfortable interacting respectfully with elderly residents
Ability to follow instructions and established property procedures
Comfortable working outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
Strong attention to property appearance, cleanliness, and safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collect and remove resident trash throughout the property
Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of outdoor common areas
Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and landscaped areas
Trim bushes and perform routine landscaping activities
Clean and maintain grounds throughout the approximately 40-acre property
Identify and report maintenance, property, or safety concerns
Safely operate landscaping and grounds maintenance tools and equipment
Enter resident homes when necessary to complete assigned duties while respecting resident privacy and property
Provide courteous and professional service to residents, visitors, and staff
Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment
Follow all company safety procedures and property policies
Perform additional groundskeeping and property maintenance duties as assigned
Resident & Customer Service Responsibilities
Interact professionally and respectfully with elderly residents
Maintain resident privacy when entering homes for assigned duties
Communicate courteously with residents, visitors, and property staff
Be mindful of resident safety while performing groundskeeping activities
Report resident or property concerns to appropriate personnel rather than attempting unauthorized repairs
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working throughout the community
Preferred Qualifications
Previous residential or commercial groundskeeping experience
Landscaping or lawn maintenance experience
Apartment, retirement community, or property maintenance experience
Experience planting and maintaining flowers, shrubs, and landscaped areas
Experience safely operating landscaping and grounds maintenance equipment
Previous customer-facing maintenance or service experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk frequently throughout a 40-acre property
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and carrying
Ability to perform outdoor physical labor for extended periods
Ability to safely operate landscaping and grounds maintenance tools and equipment
Comfortable working outdoors in changing temperatures and weather conditions
Work Environment
Large residential community covering approximately 40 acres
Combination of landscaped areas, outdoor common spaces, and resident properties
Frequent outdoor work throughout the day
Regular interaction with elderly residents, visitors, and property staff
Physically active position involving significant walking and grounds maintenance
Consistent MondayFriday schedule with no weekend work
