Department
The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University.
Responsibilities
Performs campus groundskeeping tasks such as edging, raking, mulching, power blowing, light pruning, trimming spent blooms and watering plants. Identifies and removes weeds from flowerbeds, gardens, planting areas, and pathways, ensuring the removal of roots to prevent regrowth.
This includes hand weeding and the use of tools like hoes or weed pullers.
Transplants plant/flower materials, assists with minor landscape renovations, to include soil excavation and removal.
Responsible for debris removal, leaf removal, trash pickup and other tasks to keep grounds clean and presentable. Maintains areas by spreading landscape materials such as shell, bark, or rocks.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned that support museum operations and provides general assistance for the Facilities department at the museum as needed.
Qualifications
Completion of 9th grade or higher
Please note that due to the need to use golf carts on The Ringling grounds, applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Valid Florida Drivers license or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
Drivers permits are not acceptable.
Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds, walk long distances, work from heights, and work in extreme weather conditions.
