    Description

    Title: Groundskeeper 

    Employment Type: Full Time 

    Salary or Hourly: Hourly 

    Pay rate: $20-25 per hour

    Responsibilities 

    The following responsibilities describe the general nature of work for employees in this position, but this is not intended as an exclusive or all-inclusive inventory. 

    •  Scheduling and assisting landscape contractors 
    • Ordering of supplies and plant material 
    • Assist seasonal employees 
    • Turf maintenance including mowing, edging, clean-up, and removal of debris 
    • Planting, weeding, mulching, watering, trimming, and pruning; snow removal 
    • Application of fertilizers and pesticides as appropriate 
    • Operation and basic maintenance of tools, equipment, and implements (some motorized) used to accomplish the tasks associated with the position 
    • Participate in emergency clean-up as needed due to severe weather 
    • Maintaining Barn work area in a clean and organized manner 

      

    Required Skills 

    •  Ability to implement a landscape maintenance plan 
    • Ability to lead landscape-based projects 
    • Ability to work individually as well as manage the work of other employees and outside contractors 
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals 
    • Ability to understand oral and written instructions 
    • Ability to make basic calculations related to chemical applications and ordering supplies and materials 
    • Ability to use landscape and garden related maintenance equipment and tools, including power-driven tools; prior landscape maintenance experience preferred 
    • Computer knowledge in Microsoft software 
    • Valid driver’s license 

      

    Education and/or Experience 

    • Associates degree or higher (preferred) in horticulture or related field 
    • 2 years+ experience with turf and landscape maintenance
