As part of the Facilities Services Grounds Department, this individual is primarily responsible for mowing turf in assigned areas and assisting their crew in maintaining the assigned landscaped spaces. This individual will be expected to operate machinery in a safe manner to ensure their safety and the safety of others. The ability to work in a team atmosphere is a must.

Classification Minimum Requirements:

Completion of ninth grade and one year of relevant experience.

Job Description:

Performs turf mowing functions on commercial zero-turn mowers. Operates large farm type tractors with implements such as mowers, spreaders, edger’s, tillers, leaf sweepers, etc., used in turf and landscape maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.

Performs grounds maintenance tasks in assigned work areas. Drives state vehicles that requires a Class E driver’s license.

Performs and documents equipment safety checks. Assists mechanic in servicing assigned equipment.

Employee must possess and maintain valid Florida Class E driver’s license.

Employee must possess or obtain within (6) months of employment GI-BMP Certification.

Position requires a criminal background check and post offer health assessment.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy 

Expected Salary:

$16.00 Hourly

Required Qualifications:

Completion of ninth grade and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred:

High school diploma or equivalent Two years’ experience in running mowers and tractors
