    Job Title: Groundskeeper-Crew Leader Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

    Reports To: Supervisor/Lead Pay Grade: Auxiliary-3

    PRIMARY PURPOSE: Shall accomplish various and numerous assigned task necessary for the appearance, maintenance and repair of improved grounds, security, and overall upkeep of grounds at campuses and other AISD assigned areas.

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma/GED desired Clear and valid Texas driver's license

    GROUNDS MAINTENANCE AND LANDSCAPING:

    1. Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields
    2. Follow scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds
    3. Plant shrubs and vegetation
    4. Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields
    5. Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities
    6. Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems
    7. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing
    8. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor
    9. Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition
    10. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed
    11. Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district
    12. Maintain fenced enclosures on campuses and assigned areas
    13. Assist in re-striping of parking lots and curbs using brush or motor driven painting equipment
    14. Accomplish minor landscaping, tree trimming, stump removal, etc.
    15. Pick-up and delivery of supplies and materials pertinent to grounds maintenance and other craft areas
    16. Assist in other craft areas when necessary in a spirit of teamwork and corporation
    17. Operate vehicles, tractor and motor-driven push and riding mowers
    18. Perform all other duties as assigned by Grounds Lead Person and/or supervisor
    19. Use care when working around existing gas, water, and electric utility systems. Immediately report to your supervisor and the Facilities office any damage done to utility components.

    TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED: Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including backhoe, tractor, grader; and power mower; light truck or van and pull behind trailers

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    1. Work with frequent interruptions
    2. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting for prolonged periods of time
    3. Assembling and moving ladders, scaffolding, trailers, compressors, etc.
    4. Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds
    5. May be required to wear a respirator and pass appropriate pulmonary physical
    6. Exposure to noise and communicable diseases
    7. Extreme cold/heat
    8. Exposure to wet and humid conditions
    9. Work in confined spaces
    10. Exposure to legal limits of pesticides and herbicides
    11. Exposure to odors and gases
    12. Tolerate exposure to grasses and other outside environments

    Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

    Pay Grade: Auxiliary-3
