    Job Title

    Groundskeeper/Building Services Technician

    Essential Job Functions

    • Mows grass and trims with power mowers and other power tools
    • Weeds flower beds and around shrubs and trees as directed
    • Removes dead branches, prunes and maintains trees
    • Assists with the removal and disposal of trash and debris
    • Rakes or blows leaves and grass
    • Moves furniture and sets-up offices and other academic spaces as directed
    • Maintains streets (immediate vicinity of campus) and parking lots
    • Provides support and manpower as directed to other departments
    • During the off-season winter months, may be reassigned to custodial or carpentry departments
    • Other related duties, as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • One (1) year of grounds keeping and/or maintenance experience preferred
    • Valid Mississippi Drivers License

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    • Good communication skills

    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and express ideas effectively and concisely

    • Ability to operate maintenance and grounds keeping equipment, power and hand tools

    • Ability to work within the overall organization of Facilities Management

    • Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks

    • Ability to organize work to efficiently accomplish tasks

    • Ability to apply insecticide and herbicide in a safe and effective manner

    • Ability to calibrate spraying equipment
