Grounds Maintenance Tech

Position Summary: Grounds Maintenance Technicians are responsible for mowing, edging and trimming residential and/or commercial grounds in a safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Mowing and edging of lawns, trimming hedges, fertilization and weed control of assigned jobs
• Conduct routine irrigation wet checks to ensure sprinkler systems are functioning properly
• Inspect area to ensure work is complete and the area is clean after each job;
• Ensure safety by maintaining all safety standards and wearing proper safety equipment;
• Report any and all accidents, incidents and/or injuries to management the same day of occurrence;
• Verify daily and weekly hours worked, sign weekly hours report each Friday
• Attend weekly safety meetings as scheduled; have a clear understanding of safety rules, standards and guidelines;
• Participate in company safety incentives, meetings and activities
• Wear proper work clothes and shoes

Job Requirements, Skills and/or Qualifications:

        Previous lawn maintenance, landscape or farming experience preferred

        Knowledge of, training and previous use of commercial mowers, weed eaters, edgers and hedge trimmers while maintaining all safety rules and standards

        Ability to comprehend verbal instructions

        Bilingual communication in English and Spanish a plus, not required

        Provide excellent customer service both internal and external

        Ability to visualize and diagnose malfunctions and maintain machinery

        Capable of physical, manual labor, including but not limited to balancing, carrying, loading and unloading equipment and  materials; Ability to lift heavy material and equipment;

        Ability to work outdoors and in varied climates

        Ability to apply strength and operate machines; and use hand and power tools.

        Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.

        Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.

        Minimum of 18 years of age

        Ability to get along well with others, be a team player

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

• The individual performs duties outdoors in a natural, agricultural environment; therefore, the working conditions are subject to all types of weather conditions. Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions may occur, therefore, attention to one's surroundings is mandatory.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud with the operation of equipment. 
• Wearing of safety equipment (PPE) such as eye protection and back support is required.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, climb, jump, and/or crawl on multiple types of terrain; the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• Once properly trained, the employee is regularly required to operate commercial mowers, and carry and lift lawn equipment such as weed-eaters, edgers and hedge trimmers
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Anything heavier, assistance should be obtained, along with wearing proper safety equipment. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision.
