Position summary:

Under the direction of the Store Director you will be trained to provide leadership in the perishable and non-perishable areas by directing and managing Team Members, and implementing merchandising initiatives to stimulate the growth of the business while meeting customer requirements and maximizing profits. It is essential to meet, understand, and promote Giant Eagle safety processes and requirements according to the Health Department, HAACCP, OSHA, along with Giant Eagle’s polices and procedures. With these safe work practices and properly maintained equipment, we will protect ourselves and our team members, our customers and our banner. Be a leader by representing the organization in a professional manner through appearance, language, and behavior. Promote and develop individuals with mutual respect, inclusion, diversity, and dignity. Eventually will lead to training and development of team members so the preparation, production, and displaying of product shows “passion for food”. Coaching team members on a regular basis with timely feedback, identify opportunities for development, and coach for success. Recognize and reward Team Members for going the extra mile and delivering great service. Empower and encourage Team Members to take appropriate steps to solve customer concerns to the customer’s satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities (not limited to the following)

Under the direction of the Store Director, this job will require full support in delegated duties in the following areas:

Schedule employees and delegate work assignments effectively utilizing employees and supplies to maximize the store’s profits.

Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and work processes to calculate gross monthly profit and meet other expectations of the Store Director relative to record keeping.

Develop and implement merchandising plans using guidelines and suggestions in order to meet the financial objectives of the store.

Control store costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability.

Direct, oversee, and evaluate training provided by a trainer to department employees in order to reduce turnover, promote efficiency, and control labor costs.

Maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure health and OSHA requirements are met.

Develop and maintain communication processes with other departments in order to develop marketing plans, which help to meet the financial objectives of the store.

Assist the Store Director in analyzing the Customer Satisfaction Index to identify areas needing improvement and help to develop processes and/or procedures to address those issues.

Maintain accurate department records and ensure documentation of activities is available (i.e. temperature checks in perishable departments).

Ensure that proper procedures are being followed so that store meets out-of-stock percentage goal.

Promote the continuous development of employees and identify candidates for development.

Provide leadership that promotes and exemplifies a Passion for Food, Service, and Cleanliness.

Understand and adhere to our Team Member Handbook and follow our philosophy of a positive and uplifting environment while also delivering guidance and leadership to the team members on a continuous basis.

Required Training and Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Desired Experience

3 years previous supermarket experience with 1 or more years in department or store management.
