Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Foundry Grinding Technician to join a busy foundry operation in Tulsa. This position is responsible for grinding, cleaning, and finishing cast metal products while supporting multiple areas of the foundry production process.

This is a physically demanding industrial position with exposure to heat, noise, dust, fumes, and moving equipment. The ideal candidate has previous grinding, cutting, or metalworking experience and is willing to cross-train in additional foundry operations.




Required Experience & Skills

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous grinding, cutting, foundry, or metalworking experience preferred
• Ability to safely operate grinders and other powered equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced industrial environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Willingness to cross-train throughout different foundry operations
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Corrected vision of 20/20 required
• Must successfully complete required drug screening and background check




Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate grinders, chippers, saws, blasting equipment, and other production tools
• Grind, smooth, clean, and finish metal castings according to specifications
• Remove excess material and surface imperfections from finished castings
• Inspect castings for defects and identify potential quality concerns
• Report defective or nonconforming products to appropriate personnel
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and safety checks
• Move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures and foundry operating requirements
• Perform additional grinding, finishing, and production duties as assigned




Foundry Cross-Training

Employees may also have opportunities to cross-train and assist with:

• Core making
• Mold making
• Mold closing
• Melting operations
• Pouring operations
• Shakeout
• Material handling
• Other foundry production processes




Preferred Qualifications

• Previous foundry experience
• Industrial grinding or metal finishing experience
• Cutting, deburring, or metalworking experience
• Forklift operating experience
• Overhead crane or hoist experience
• Experience using blasting equipment
• Previous work in heavy industrial or high-temperature manufacturing environments




Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and repetitive physical activity
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
• Ability to safely operate grinders and other industrial tools while wearing required PPE
• Comfortable working around moving equipment and heavy metal components
• Ability to work in environments involving extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and fumes




Required PPE

• Hard hat

• Steel-toed boots
• Additional PPE as required by assigned foundry operations




Work Environment

• Heavy industrial foundry and metalworking environment
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and moving equipment
• Regular use of grinders, chippers, saws, blasting equipment, forklifts, cranes, and hoists
• Physically demanding production setting requiring consistent safety awareness
• Early-morning Monday–Thursday schedule with 8 hours of Friday overtime expected
• Cross-training opportunities throughout multiple foundry departments
