The Division of External Affairs, in partnership with the Bronx Green Jobs Center, seeks Student Fellows to support the Bronx Green Jobs Center's Green Entrepreneurship Hub work in advancing climate-aligned small business growth, workforce development, and inclusive economic mobility in the Bronx.

This fellowship is designed for students interested in the intersection of clean economy entrepreneurship, workforce systems, and public investment. Fellows will support the local small business community and green entrepreneurs while helping build talent pipelines into high-growth sectors such as energy efficiency, building decarbonization, sustainable infrastructure, and circular economy businesses.

Working across university, community, the SBDC, and state partners, the Fellow will play a key role in connecting Bronx-based founders and workforce participants to capital, technical assistance, and career opportunities. They will be a key contributor to the Hub's broader strategy to scale equitable, place-based green economic development.

Essential Functions

Green Venture Intake & Ecosystem Navigation (33%)

• Founder/Small Business Intake & Needs Assessment: Conducts structured intake for Bronx-based green entrepreneurs, MWBE-owned businesses, and climate-focused startups entering the Green Entrepreneurship Hub.
• Resource Coordination: Matches founders with technical assistance, primarily the Bronx SBCD and including Fordham student consulting, faculty expertise, legal/business clinics, and external partners such as NYSERDA, Fordham Foundry, and local incubators.
• Ecosystem Mapping & CRM Management: Maintains detailed records of ventures, services provided, and outcomes; contribute to tracking the Bronx green economy ecosystem and identifying service gaps.

Applied Research, Grant Writing & Impact Reporting (33%)

• Proposal Development: Prospects and contributes to grant applications and funding proposals aligned with climate, workforce, and inclusive entrepreneurship priorities (e.g., NYSERDA, Empire State Development, philanthropy).
• Impacts Assessment: Collect and synthesizes data on venture growth, job creation, and workforce outcomes to support reporting and continuous improvement.
• Funding Prospecting: Tracks emerging funding opportunities and policy initiatives shaping the green economy and urban workforce development landscape.

Hub Programming, Partnerships & Events (33%)

• Program Execution: Supports delivery of workshops, pitch events, and founder showcases focused on green business growth and access to capital.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Helps coordinate events that convene entrepreneurs, workforce participants, industry leaders, investors, and public sector partners.
• Communications:Develops briefing materials, outreach content, and post-event deliverables aligned with the Hub's mission and state engagement strategy.

Current Fordham undergraduate (Junior/Senior preferred) or graduate student; strong fit for Gabelli School of Business, Urban Studies, Environmental Studies, or related fields.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

Interest in Green Economy: Demonstrated interest in clean energy, sustainable business, climate policy, or urban economic development.

Business & Workforce Knowledge: Familiarity with entrepreneurship, small business development, or workforce training systems through coursework, internships, or applied projects.

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and writing skills; ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, community members, and public agencies.

Analytical & Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, track data, and translate insights into clear, actionable outputs.

Preferred Qualifications

Language Skill: Communication skills in languages other than English will be given additional consideration.
