Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist staff and provide administrative support to the ESL AEL Department. This position will be stationed at the Front Desk of the Windward ESL Office and will manage the procedures and operations of the Front Desk; answering/transferring incoming telephone calls; and providing support to staff, students, and the ESL AEL Department.
The Front Desk Clerk shall be responsible for providing clerical and daily operation support for our staff, including the ESL Instructors. This includes providing information on student registration eligibility and scheduling student meetings with the Career Navigator, Assistant Director, and Director. Other duties include collecting and distributing mail and messages; typing reports; filing; interacting with other departments; and assisting with additional assignments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalency.
One (1) year of experience working within a business office setting.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of computers and software used in an office environment.
Knowledge and ability to handle multiple incoming calls and transfer to office staff.
Ability to organize activities and coordinate groups of people.
Ability to relate to a various student population.
Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks.
Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict.
Customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree.
One (1) year in office areas, receptionist, clerical duties, or related experience.
Experience working with post-secondary administrators, faculty, and staff.
