Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement & Retention and is a part of the Center of Access & Advocacy at the designated campus. The purposes of this position are both to coordinate access to accommodations and services for Del Mar College students with disabilities, process student intakes, and to engage in a collaborative processes that address student retention issues/needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree.
Five (5) years related experience.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
Must be motivated, self-directed and have the ability and willingness to communicate effectively with various populations in a positive, courteous and professional manner.
Exceptional administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong commitment to personal and professional growth.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Demonstrated analytical skills to analyze data and implement or recommend effective courses of action.
Ability to travel between building and campuses.
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Student Development/Student Affairs, Rehabilitation and/or Vocational Counseling, Education, Special Education, or related field.
Experience working with students with disabilities.
Experience working with at-risk student populations.
Familiar with local social services and community resource agencies.

Review disability documentation of functional limitations to determine eligibility for services and substantiate requests for reasonable accommodations.
Assess the interaction of the students(s) disability with the academic environment and develop a plan for the provision of reasonable accommodations to facilitate equitable opportunities.
Assist students in understanding their disabilities and their rights and responsibilities relating to reasonable accommodations.
Job Duty
Coordinate communication between faculty, staff, and prospective and enrolled students with disabilities, provide on-going consultation, technical assistance, and training to faculty and staff, facilitating equal learning opportunities.
Provide support, services, and problem solving assistance to individuals and groups.

Maintain knowledge of current legislation and national, state, and local issues affecting access for students with disabilities.
Document, maintain, and review current and accurate case records, notes and related information in electronic and manual files.
Maintain strict confidentiality in verbal and written communications.
Job Duty
Analyze information about individuals through interviews, assessments, and records to appraise their interests, abilities, and potential barriers to academic success and retention.
Provide direct services or referrals to campus and community resources as appropriate.
Make recommendations to administration regarding policy revisions to improve services to students with disabilities.

Participate in College-wide, and community activities including but not limited to registration, advising, orientation, faculty/staff professional development, and community events, etc.
Participate in College committees, councils, and College service activities.
Job Duty
Partner with retention colleagues to assist with Academic Recovery Program (ARP) probation and suspension student plus CARE Connection students in need identified via faculty-driven early alerts.
Process student intakes.
Develop collaborative relationships and partnerships with faculty and staff throughout the campus community-and community partners-to address students' personal and academic needs.

Establish a supportive environment that encourages participation, dissemination of information, networking, coalition building, mentoring, academic achievement, training and community service.
Develop, implement , and evaluate methods to identify and outreach to target populations, including collaboration with College academic and student services departments.

Evaluate new approaches to implement support and intervention strategies for students during pivotal points of the college experience.
Apply an outreach/connection/triage/intervention/follow-up framework with students and coordinate referrals to College and community services as needed.

Develop, implement, and evaluate methods to identify and outreach to target populations, including collaboration with College academic and student services departments.
