Grant and Finance Accountant
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance, this position performs multiple accounting functions and reconciliations to provide financial analysis on accounts relating to budgets and the general ledger; prepares grant billings and reimbursement requests to various funding sources and provides general accounting support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts to the general ledger.
- Reconciles bank accounts
- Reconciles interagency revenue and expense accounts.
- Reconciles IDD client bank accounts, records and processes client fund deposits, prepares monthly client checks, and provides the checks to the IDD Manager for distribution.
- Prepares and records journal entries for billings, monthly transactions, and other adjustments as needed in the general ledger.
- Codes and enters cash receipts into the accounting system, ensuring proper application to accounts and notes receivable.
- Manages grants from various funding sources; prepares monthly cost-reimbursement billings to funding sources and maintains documentation pertaining to grant activity and billings.
- Provides budget-to-actual financial analysis to agency Director for assigned programs and assists with preparing information for budget modification requests.
- Prepares financial reports as needed for internal and external parties.
- Assists with the annual organizational audit; prepares audit schedules, confirmations and other items necessary to complete year-end and other audits; assists auditors as required to resolve discrepancies
- Participates in external audits and monitoring reviews; assists in gathering information required by auditors/monitors and responding to questions arising during the audit or monitoring review.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting annual unclaimed property reports to the State of AZ and coordinates required notifications to vendors and employees regarding unclaimed property.
- Assists with Accounts Payable and Payroll Functions
- Assists the Director of Finance with special projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Two (2) years prior work experience in general ledger reconciliation and financial analysis for an organization of comparable size.
- Familiar with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Two (2) year prior work experience using PC based accounting software.
- Intermediate proficiency in MSWord, Excel, database programs, and Solomon financial or comparable software.
- Must have good communication skills, be detail oriented, be organized, and have the ability to work under deadlines.

- Any combination of academic education, professional training, or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Four (4) years prior work in general ledger reconciliation and financial analysis for an organization of comparable size.
- Prior work experience with grant billing and reconciliations in a government, education, or private non-profit environment.
- Knowledge of federal Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to see/read a computer monitor screen.
- Must be able to lift and carry five (5) pounds.
