About the Company and the Grant Accountant Opportunity:


CFS is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization to hire a Grant Accountant. This is a unique opportunity for a Grant Accountant who wants to play a key role in both current financial operations and the organization’s upcoming expansion into issuing grants.


This Grant Accountant will support a growing portfolio of affordable housing initiatives tied to community and educational programs, while also helping build and manage grant accounting processes from the ground up. As the organization prepares to launch new funding initiatives next year, the Grant Accountant will have the opportunity to shape grant tracking, reporting, and compliance procedures.



Job Duties of the Grant Accountant:



  • Complete bank reconciliations and assist with month-end close processes

  • Assist with AP and AR duties

  • Track restricted funds and ensure proper allocation of grant-related expenditures

  • Assist in developing processes for issuing and managing grants

  • Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and external grant requirements

  • Monitor compliance with nonprofit, grant, and affordable housing regulations

  • Partner with program teams to ensure accurate tracking and usage of grant funding

  • Assist with audit preparation, including grant compliance and reporting documentation

  • Identify and implement process improvements related to grant tracking and reporting



Qualifications of the Grant Accountant:



  • 3+ years of non profit accounting experience

    • Experience with bank reconciliations, AP, AR, and collections required

    • Experience tracking grants, restricted funds, or program budgets highly desired

    • Strong understanding of financial statements and month-end processes



  • Proficiency in Excel required

  • Knowledge of Sage ERP beneficial

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities



Schedule: Monday–Friday; Hybrid work environment; 40 hours per week
Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 depending on experience
