Position Information

Position Title Graduate Assistant - Women's Center (Part-time) Description of GA Assignment GA: Clinical Practice - The department will assign you to various tasks that will require you to provide professional service to MU students, clients of a MU Clinic, or other individuals in need of professional services provided by the office. Job Description Summary

The Women's Center serves as Marshall University's central resource for women and femme-identifying students, faculty, and staff. The Center strives to foster allyship around issues of gender and is dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion at Marshall through education, advocacy, resource connection, and leadership development.

The Women's Center Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Women's Center Program Coordinator. The Center includes a Program Coordinator, Graduate Assistant, Undergraduate Student Assistants, and Student Volunteers and Interns. All staff members collaborate to facilitate education, awareness, networking, and advocacy services for the campus community. Primary responsibilities reflect the strengths and experience of the individual team members.

  • Staff the Women's Center during regular office hours and provide student support services.
  • Assist with planning and implementing leadership opportunities and recognition, including the annual Women of Marshall Awards.
  • Assist with the assessment and evaluation of Center programs and services.
  • Assist and implement development and delivery of educational programming to UNI 100 classes, residence halls, student organizations, and university employees regarding self-esteem & body image, gender in the media, healthy masculinity, career preparation, leadership skills, allyship, advocacy training, and reproductive resources.
  • Assist with organizing and implementing awareness activities and events throughout the year, including Salary Negotiation Workshops, Reproductive and Sexual Health programs, Women's Equality Day, and Women's History Month events.
  • Collaborate with various campus and community entities to facilitate outreach events, networking opportunities, and resource connections for students.
  • Work with the Program Coordinator to recruit, train, and supervise Student Volunteers and Peer Educators.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation for Center programming and outreach.
  • Enhance the Center's social media outreach on a variety of platforms and maintain the website as needed.
