Job Summary/Basic Function

The Office of Learning Services is seeking a part-time Graduate Assistant to fill position with focus on Tutoring services. The GA will assist the Director in overseeing tutoring services, help to coordinate group tutoring services, assist in training student workers, manage communications with university departments, and maintain records and databases.

Required Qualifications

All graduate assistants must be enrolled in a Millersville University graduate program; non-degree students and those only seeking post-baccalaureate certification are not eligible.

Part-time Graduate assistants must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of 3 credits if Fall semester and in Spring semester.

Office of Learning Services Graduate Assistants must be available to complete their work hours on-campus on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Applicants who are enrolled in School Psychology or Clinical Psychology program are given preference.

Preferred Qualifications Job Duties

• Work to expand tutoring services, communicating with all departments to determine their needs, maintaining record of recommendations, and communicating unmet needs with Director.
• Coordinate group tutoring services.
• Provide leadership to fellow graduate assistant and assist in the training of student workers / tutors.
• Conduct tutor training.
• Maintain records of tutoring requests, grades, and surveys, prepare statistical reports.
• Advertise tutoring services across campus.
• Provide ADHD and Learning Disability screenings, and provide coaching services.

Graduate Assistant payment and hours guidelines

• Graduate Assistants must work 300 hours (FT) or 150 hours (PT) per semester.
• Stipends are paid 8 payments throughout the semester and are paid bi-weekly according to the payroll schedule.
• Graduate Assistants (who are not on an F-1 visa) may work 10/20 extra hours per week in addition to the required hours for the position for a total of 30 hours a week.
• Graduate Assistants who are on an F-1 visa are only permitted to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during academic sessions (spring and fall semesters); there may be opportunity to work during school breaks over 20 hours a week, which would be compensated at an hourly rate.
• Graduate Assistants must meet all eligibility requirements as detailed in GA Guidelines.
