The University of Rio Grande is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Graduate Assistants (GA) in the Athletics, Housing, Student Success and Madog Center/Welsh Studies offices for the 2026-27 academic year. Graduate Assistants are provided a tuition waiver and choice of: 1) room & board OR 2) a $6,000 academic year stipend.
Graduate Assistants (GAs) serve in support roles across the University while completing their graduate studies. GAs are designed to provide valuable professional experience that enhances future career opportunities. To remain eligible, Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in a degree-seeking graduate program, carry at least six credit hours, maintain good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA, and be eligible to work in the United States. GAs may work up to 27.5 hours per week or 900 hours per year in any capacity for the University.
Graduate Assistants are expected to maintain professional conduct, follow University policies, communicate effectively with coaches/supervisors, protect confidential information, and balance their assistantship responsibilities with their academic commitments. Attendance, reliability, and adherence to workplace and safety expectations are essential components of the role.
