    POSITION: Graduate Assistant for Women's Leadership Initiative

    DEPARTMENT: Division of Student Affairs

    REPORTS TO: Director of TRIO

    HOURS NEEDED PER WEEK: Up to 20 hrs

    PAYMENT: $1,360 monthly stipend OR tuition remission (up to 6 credit hours for fall 2026 and 6 credit hours for spring 2027)

    AVAILABLE TO: Students enrolled in a graduate-level program at an accredited institution

    DATES OF EMPLOYMENT (APPROXIMATE): September 2026 - June 2027. Please note that this is a 10-month commitment.

    PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Graduate Assistant (GA) of the Women's Leadership Initiative will provide direct assistance to the Assistant Director of TRIO with the development, coordination, execution and evaluation of the Women's Leadership Initiative within the department. The GA serves in an academic year appointment working

    approximately 20 hours per week and reports to the Assistant Director of TRIO.

    In addition, the GA will build relationships and collaborate with various university departments.

    JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Through an anti-deficit and solution-based approach rooted in cultural assets, the GA serves as a mentor and model of leadership through the following responsibilities:

    • Assist in the planning of a one-day Leadership Symposium that will occur in the Fall semester
    • Development of a comprehensive leadership program using theory and application for eligible scholarship recipients
    • Serve as a mentor to a small cohort of second year undergraduate students in their leadership development
    • Facilitate monthly mentor/mentee check ins with WLI cohort
    • Logistics and planning of monthly leadership workshops
    • Assist in the facilitation and execution of monthly leadership workshops
    • Establish and maintain connections with other departments, while collaborating on joint efforts
    • Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Period of employment: a ten-month term with a flexible start date beginning September 2026-June 2027, with the possibility of continued employment
    • Currently enrolled (or acceptance for enrollment) in a graduate program at least part-time during the regular academic year
    • Preference will be given to candidates with at least 1 year experience working in leadership programs or participation in a leadership experience
    • Experience with and/or knowledge of leadership development and program planning for students from marginalized communities
    • Position is available to external candidates
