The Seymour Community School District is seeking a 2nd Grade Teacher for beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be able to engage students in 1st grader level learning, utilize data to differentiate instruction and create a strong classroom community. In addition, the candidate should be committed to developing effective partnerships with parents and building collaborative relationships with colleagues. Position Description:
A teacher shall possess a valid Wisconsin Teaching License and shall meet all the requirements as established by state statute, the Department of public Instruction, and the School Board, or be eligible to earn the appropriate license. A teacher will plan to effectively present the instructional program relative to individual needs, and to evaluate the learning process to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student using the District's universal curriculum. The teacher will work collaboratively with parents/guardians and colleagues to ensure that the maximum growth is achieved. In addition, classroom teachers will supervise students in both schedule and unschedule situations or activities.
Hours/Benefits:
The parameters of this position are defined by contract.
Performance Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences with clear learning objectives, are aligned to standards, and are relevant to the needs of the students.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures to maintain discipline in accordance with the rules of the school.
Maintain an organized classroom that is conducive to student learning.
Assign, grade, and provide feedback on learning activities in order to support and monitor students' academic progress.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development and prepare required reports detailing student progress.
Turn in administrative paperwork on or before the given deadline.
Participate in school activities during and outside of the school day.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and students needs in a timely manner.
Respond to parent concerns within twenty-four (24) hours.
Participate in district meetings and professional development activities to ensure continued growth in the necessary skills and current practices for teaching.
Remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in compliance with Board policies throughout his/her employment in the District.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
