POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Technician is responsible for the front-line support and maintenance of the Tribe's IT network resources and data centers across tribal government, gaming & hospitality, health and enterprises. Responds to Helpdesk service requests relating to network issues and connectivity, providing solutions or escalating and collaborating with other IT resources to resolve in a timely manner. Monitors the entire WAN to proactively resolve issues and works with all IT teams on data center management. Provides support to other IT resources needing networking expertise or assistance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position heavy with lifting of 100 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of color vision, typing; frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, use of hearing, driving, bending; occasional pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, manual handling, use of smell, near/midrange/far vision and field of vision. Working conditions include occasional exposure to weather, wet/humidity, noise and air quality. Potential hazards include constant computer use and occasional exposure to electric shock, high exposed places, chemicals and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: One-year of experience in IT Network Support or related IT support role in a complex enterprise environment required.
Certification/License: Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must undergo a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Must comply with the Sault Tribe's Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), network devices (switches, routers, firewalls), and network troubleshooting methodologies required. Must have familiarity with network monitoring software and ability to interpret performance metrics (latency, bandwidth utilization) to identify potential issues. Basic understanding of network security threats and best practices for securing network infrastructure (e.g., VLANs, ACLs) required. Awareness of challenges and considerations for managing a network across multiple data centers and sites required. Basic knowledge of server communication protocols and how network infrastructure supports server operations required. Must have proficiency in using network monitoring tools, configuring basic network settings, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues. Must have excellent written and verbal communication to document network issues, escalate problems, and provide user support. Ability to maintain accurate documentation of network devices, configurations, cabling layouts, and network topology required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues required. Must have collaborative spirit to work effectively with all IT team members and their own network team of Network Administrators, AD Administrators, Server Administrators, and the IT Network Manager. Must have the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage time constraints, and meet deadlines in a 24/7/365 environment. Must have strong focus on accuracy when documenting network configurations, troubleshooting issues, and performing maintenance tasks. Ability to learn new technologies, network monitoring tools, and adapt to evolving network security threats required. Professional and helpful demeanor when interacting with users and colleagues regarding network issues required. Must have the ability to perform basic tasks like installing and maintaining network equipment (optional, depending on company needs). Native American preferred.
