Description

Job Summary:

The Government Services Capacity Rep is the truckload procurement owner for BlueGrace's government freight, including USPS. This role keeps every open load covered, recovers freight when a carrier fails on service, and builds the dedicated carrier capacity that contract lanes depend on. It also supports tracking and service updates on in-transit trips. In an environment where reliability and compliance are contractual obligations, the ideal candidate is resourceful, relationship-driven, and calm under pressure. This is a hands-on position with direct, visible impact on mission-critical freight and on account profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Load Coverage & Service Recovery

  • Cover all open Government Services loads by sourcing, booking, and confirming truckload capacity with vetted carriers.
  • Execute bounce recoveries when a carrier fails on service, re-covering the load quickly to protect on-time delivery and the customer relationship.
  • Document the cause of service failures and share carrier performance feedback with the account team.
  • Maintain accurate load, carrier, and rate information in the TMS.

Dedicated Capacity Development

  • Develop dedicated capacity for contract lanes by recruiting, onboarding, and building lasting relationships with carriers aligned to awarded lanes.
  • Partner with Account Coordinators and Rate & Carrier Management to align capacity with award commitments, tendered volumes, and lane requirements.
  • Maintain carrier contact records, equipment data, and lane preferences; track carrier acceptance and performance on dedicated lanes.
  • Identify capacity gaps early and flag lanes at risk before service is affected.

Tracking & Service Updates

  • Assist with tracking and service updates on in-transit trips, using visibility tools such as FourKites and project44.
  • Identify and resolve operational exceptions quickly; escalate proactively when a shipment or carrier relationship is at risk.
  • Provide timely, accurate status updates to internal teams, account coordinators, and customers as needed.

Compliance & Collaboration

  • Learn and apply each customer's specific KPIs, service requirements, and government compliance standards to daily carrier and load decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Account Coordinator, Rate & Carrier Management, and After Hours teams to hand off open loads and time-sensitive issues.
  • Follow up with carriers to collect PODs, invoices, and required supporting documentation within required timeframes.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in truckload brokerage, carrier sales, or freight procurement preferred; motivated candidates with strong logistics aptitude encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with TMS platforms, load boards, carrier portals, or visibility tools (FourKites, project44) a plus.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills; comfortable recruiting, vetting, and managing carrier partners.
  • Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills; comfortable as the voice of the account to carrier partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy — precision matters in government reporting and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; quick to learn and navigate new systems and technology platforms.
  • Available to work in office on a set schedule, with occasional evening or weekend support for time-sensitive loads. High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field a plus.

Key Competencies

  • Drive for Results — takes ownership of outcomes with urgency and accountability, especially when recovering freight.
  • Relationship Building — builds trust and long-term capacity commitments with carrier partners.
  • Collaboration — partners effectively across internal teams to hit shared goals.
  • Resourcefulness — finds creative, cost-conscious solutions quickly when capacity is tight.
