Government Contracting Consultant

Put Your Expertise to Work. Advise Clients. Help Grow the Business.

Are you an experienced government contracting professional who can look beyond the numbers and help businesses make smarter financial and contract-related decisions? Our client is seeking an experienced consultant who brings deep knowledge of government contracting regulations, strong financial acumen, and the confidence to advise clients at the Controller level.

This is an opportunity to leverage your experience across a variety of clients, guide critical financial decisions, and build long-term business relationships. You will serve as a trusted advisor, oversee the quality of client deliverables, mentor team members, and help expand the business by identifying new opportunities and strengthening existing partnerships.

If you enjoy solving complex challenges, working directly with clients, and combining technical expertise with strategic thinking, this role offers an opportunity to make an impact well beyond the numbers.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to government contractors, helping clients navigate financial decisions, contract requirements, and business challenges.

  • Apply your expertise across budgeting, proposal pricing, financial analysis, and government compliance.

  • Build lasting client relationships while helping identify opportunities to expand services and grow accounts.

  • Bring a leadership perspective to client engagements, reviewing work and ensuring deliverables meet the highest standards.

  • Mentor and develop team members while helping strengthen internal processes and service delivery.

  • Combine technical government contracting knowledge with consulting, relationship management, and business development.

What You Will Do

  • Act as a trusted point of contact for clients, providing financial guidance, addressing contract-related concerns, and anticipating their evolving business needs.

  • Review client financial reports, monthly deliverables, and invoices to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with client expectations.

  • Lead client discussions around financial performance, contract activity, budgets, pricing strategies, and upcoming proposals.

  • Oversee the development of budgets, cost proposals, pricing analyses, and DCAA incurred cost submissions.

  • Advise clients on FAR, DFARS, DCAA, and other applicable government contracting requirements.

  • Coordinate with government agencies on contract matters, indirect cost rates, budgets, and compliance questions.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships, expand service offerings, and develop new business.

  • Provide technical guidance and quality oversight to internal team members, helping ensure client work is accurate, consistent, and delivered to a high standard.

  • Coach and mentor staff while identifying opportunities to improve internal controls, workflows, and consulting practices.

What You Bring

  • 8-10 years of government contracting experience, with a strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, DCAA requirements, and related regulations.

  • Extensive experience in government contract accounting, finance, or consulting, with the ability to advise clients at a CFO level.

  • Strong background in budgeting, proposal pricing, financial statement analysis, and incurred cost submissions.

  • Experience reviewing financial work and client deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

  • Proven ability to build trusted client relationships, retain accounts, identify additional needs, and develop new business.

  • Leadership experience mentoring staff, reviewing work, and improving processes and internal controls.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to lead client conversations and advise senior decision-makers.
