The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent (Golf Course Supt II) to be a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine Rec Centers, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.
This position is under the direction of the Director of Agronomy and Golf Division Director, this position is fully responsible for all maintenance functions, facilities, equipment, and staff associated with Burke Lake Golf Course. The incumbent develops and implements a comprehensive turf management program, directs the work of staff related to turf management, irrigation, equipment repair and general building maintenance and custodial duties and conducts moderately complex budgeting and accounting tasks. This position conducts staff training, development, and recognition activities and coordinates maintenance activities with the site manager to ensure maximum utilization of the multi- course complex. Additionally, the position completes and submits various financial, administrative, and statistical reports and complies and retains operational and safety records.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a two-year associate degree program with major course work in agronomy, turfgrass management, recreation and parks, horticulture or related field plus three years experience as golf course superintendent or other applicable position at a golf course.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, and drivers license check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to climb on and off equipment. Ability to use both hand and foot controls for extended periods. Ability to wear respirators and other protective equipment and clothing. Climb on and off various golf course maintenance equipment. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
