Description

GNC Engineer | San Francisco | $115,000 to $140,000 base

Most GNC engineers spend years tuning one gain on somebody else's vehicle. This is the opposite.

You will join a GNC team of two at a launch company that has already flown. Guidance, navigation and control across the whole rocket. Hot fires happen regularly and launch cadence is ramping up. They are entering qualification, so expect a lot of iterative PID tuning against noisy real test data.

You will:

  • Develop GNC algorithms, simulation models and trajectories
  • Tune controllers and guidance algorithms
  • Verify performance from ground test and flight data
  • Build test automation across Simulink, hardware in the loop, engine test cells and integrated vehicles
  • Support launch from mission control

You will need:

  • 3 to 5 years in aerospace vehicle GNC development and simulation
  • MATLAB and Simulink, plus C++ or Python
  • Controllers built for rockets, drones or robots
  • Control theory grounding, including system identification
  • Advanced degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or equivalent

Small team, so this sits close to a lead role without the title. You do not need to tick every line to apply.

Base salary range for the Bay Area, alongside bonus and benefits. ITAR restricted, so US Person status or an obtainable trade licence is required.
