    Location: NASA Johnson Space Center
    Status: Full Time

    Clearance: Background check

    We have an exciting opportunity for a GN&C Engineer to join the team with Astrion, a teammate company. 

     

    QUALIFICATION / SKILLS

     

    This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

    • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.

    • Significant knowledge of GN&C

    • Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations

    • Proficiency with C/C++ and Python

    • Familiarity with validation and verification of GN&C algorithms and requirements

    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees

    DESIRED QUALIFICATION / SKILLS

    • Master’s degree in engineering and 3 years or more of experience in the field or in a related area; or a PhD. in engineering or in a related field

    • Significant experience with C, C++, and Python

    • Significant experience with MATLAB including Simulink, Stateflow, and Autocode

    • Safety and flight-critical embedded software development

    • Experience with source code control and continuous integration

    • Agile software development

    • Experience in the following flight software specialty areas:

      • GN&C software development

      • Software process and procedure development

      • Software Integration and Build Management

    • Experience with Kalman filters, Neural Networks, UDU factorization and/or advanced smoothers

    • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning

    • Experience with TRICK/JEOD simulation architecture

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and evaluate safety-critical flight software

    • Develop, integrate, and test GN&C algorithms

    • Utilize MATLAB/Simulink/Autocode skills to update GN&C Flight Software

    • Utilize Python & C/C++ skills to analyze and test GN&C Flight Software

    • Validate and Verify GN&C algorithms and requirements

    • Provide recommendations for improvements of flight software, its processes and procedures

    • Perform deep-dive analyses of flight and simulation software

    • Perform other duties as required
