General Manager Brews and Bites (Chicago Riverwalk)

Location: Chicago Riverwalk, IL
Full-Time Position
$6,000.00 - $7,000.00 per month + generous performance bonuses upto 20% of salary

Brews and Bites is a high-volume, fast-paced bar and eatery located on the bustling Chicago Riverwalk. We specialize in craft beverages, delicious bites, and an unbeatable atmosphere for locals and tourists alike. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and results-driven General Manager to lead our team, ensure smooth operations, and drive business growth in one of Chicago s most visible locations.


What we need

  • A proven leader with 2+ years of experience managing a high-volume bar/restaurant in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of beverage service, food operations, and hospitality management.
  • A problem-solver who thrives under pressure and can multitask efficiently.
  • Passionate about creating a positive work environment and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Skilled in cost control, budgeting, and increasing revenue through effective operational and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Hiring
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage all floor and kitchen staff (FOH & BOH).
  • Establish and maintain a positive and motivated work culture.
  • Conduct regular staff training to ensure service excellence and efficiency.
  • Operations & Inventory Management
  • Oversee all daily operations, ensuring efficiency and a smooth guest experience.
  • Create, manage, and enforce weekly schedules for FOH and BOH staff.
  • Monitor and optimize food & beverage inventory, placing orders and controlling waste.
  • Sales Growth & Marketing Support
  • Increase sales and revenue through strategic menu pricing, promotions, and upselling initiatives.
  • Work closely with marketing and PR teams to drive traffic and engagement via social media and community events.
  • Ensure that reviews on reviewing websites like Google, Yelp and others reflect our commit to high quality food and excellent customer service
  • Ensure an active presence in the Chicago hospitality scene, engaging with partners, local businesses, and potential collaborators.
  • Financial & Performance Reporting
  • Control costs, payroll, and operational expenses to maintain strong profit margins.
  • Provide weekly performance reports to ownership, including sales trends, labor costs, and operational insights.
  • Implement strategies to improve customer retention and satisfaction.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with Chicago health and liquor laws, including all licensing and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment for both staff and guests.
  • Handle guest complaints and escalations professionally and efficiently.
