Job Summary
Global Learner Support (GLS) at Northeastern University supports international and domestic learners through individualized English language instruction and academic communication support. Tutors provide 50-minute, one-on-one tutoring sessions designed to help students develop the language and communication skills needed for academic and professional success.
Tutorials may address academic and professional writing, listening, speaking, reading, vocabulary development, academic presentation skills, pronunciation, fluency, and APA/MLA citation practices, as well as occasional preparation for standardized English language proficiency exams such as IELTS, TOEFL-iBT, and CELPIP.
Qualified tutors should be comfortable supporting a broad range of language and communication needs, while recognizing that individual tutors may have particular areas of specialization.
Tutors are expected to create a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment; assess students' individual needs; provide targeted instruction and strategies; and empower learners to become more confident and independent communicators.

TESOL/TEFL, ESL, or equivalent language-teaching qualification preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience teaching English as an additional/second language, tutoring, or providing academic language support to university-level or adult learners.
