Description The GLL Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the delivery and advancement of educational opportunities for adult learners enrolled in the English as a Second Language (ESL) and General Educational Development (GED) programs. The coordinator supports the departments mission to help students develop foundational skills, earn their high school equivalency diploma, enhance their English proficiency, and successfully transition into credit-bearing college courses and career pathways.

This position coordinates across three levels of English instruction, supports students as they progress through the GED curriculum, and assists in building pathways aligned with college readiness and degree completion.

Examples of Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination & Academic Support
  • Coordinate the scheduling, enrollment, and delivery of ESL and GED courses, including three levels of English instruction.
  • Assist in planning and implementing educational activities that align with college and career transition goals.
  • Student Engagement & College Transitions
  • Support intake, orientation, and assessment processes to place students in the appropriate level of English instruction or GED preparation.
  • Advise students on academic progression and connect them with transition support for college enrollment, financial aid, tutoring, and other student services.
  • Develop and coordinate workshops and informational sessions focused on college readiness, digital literacy, and career exploration.
  • Instructional & Faculty Support
  • Serve as a liaison between instructors, tutors, and administrative staff to support instructional planning and classroom needs.
  • Help coordinate instructional resources, testing schedules, and student progress tracking across ESL and GED levels.
  • Facilitate communication and feedback loops among instructional staff to support student success.
  • Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and secure student records in compliance with FERPA and accreditation requirements.
  • Manage the inventory of educational and office supplies; place and track orders as needed.
  • Monitor deadlines for program deliverables, reports, and related activities.
  • Support data collection and reporting for internal use and external compliance.

Outreach & Events Coordinator

Position Overview: Support and engage adult learners by coordinating outreach, recruitment, and retention efforts for ESL and GED programs. Plan and execute student-centered events, including orientations, achievement celebrations, community activities, and the GED graduation. Represent the department at college and community events to raise program visibility and encourage participation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead student outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives for ESL and GED programs.
  • Plan and coordinate student-focused events, including orientations, celebrations, community engagement activities, and GED graduation.
  • Serve as a departmental ambassador at college and community events to promote programs and foster engagement.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in education, language studies, social sciences, or related field.
  • Experience in adult education, ESL, GED, or college transition programs.
  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing adult and multilingual learners.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with program compliance and/or accreditation is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Excel; experience with student management systems a plus.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends.
