Job Summary
Under broad direction of the Global Affairs Chief of Staff, serves as the campus subject matter expert and strategic lead for enterprise-wide international travel risk management, global safety, and institutional resilience. Develops, implements, and continuously improves comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies, and mitigation strategies designed to reduce institutional exposure associated with international travel, global engagement, and overseas operations involving students, faculty, staff, and affiliated travelers.
Provides expert consultation to senior leadership regarding strategic, operational, reputational, geopolitical, regulatory, health, safety, and crisis-related risks impacting university-sponsored international activities. Leads enterprise risk assessments, high-risk travel review processes, emergency response coordination, and policy development efforts affecting university travelers abroad.
Independently exercises judgment in assessing complex and evolving global risk conditions and recommends appropriate mitigation, escalation, and institutional response strategies. Chairs campus-wide committees and collaborates with UC systemwide offices, external intelligence providers, governmental agencies, and institutional stakeholders to strengthen organizational preparedness, compliance, and resilience.
Responsible for assuring that university-sponsored international travel complies with applicable university policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards through the development, implementation, and monitoring of prevention and control strategies, including pre-travel risk assessments, traveler preparedness initiatives, emergency communications, and crisis response protocols.
Works collaboratively with Global Affairs units, Risk Management, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Information Security, Campus Counsel, Academic Senate, Office of Research, UC Davis colleges and schools, and external partners to support institutional continuity, traveler safety, and enterprise risk mitigation objectives.

The Global Enterprise Risk Manager Leads enterprise risk assessments, high-risk travel review processes, emergency response coordination, and policy development efforts affecting university travelers abroad.
