    Description

    The successful candidate will lead and manage the high school girls' basketball program. The role involves fostering student-athlete development, promoting sportsmanship, and developing a competitive team culture. The coach will actively engage with students to enhance their athletic skills and personal growth within a supportive and challenging environment. Collaboration with the athletic department and other school staff will be essential to enrich the overall student-athlete experience.

    • Develop and implement practice plans and game strategies.
    • Mentor student-athletes to promote academic and athletic achievement.
    • Oversee team budgeting and fundraising activities.
    • Coordinate with assistant coaches for program continuity and support.
    • Ensure compliance with school district and athletic association policies.

    Effective Dates: Winter Season (11/01/26 - 03/07/27)

    Salary; Stipend: As per the salary guide in the agreement between the South Plainfield Board of Education and the South Plainfield Teachers' Unit

    Other Requirements:

    • Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or County Substitute Certificate
    • Prior coaching experience at the high school level, with demonstrated knowledge of the sport
    • Proven ability to lead student athletes, promote teamwork, and demonstrate sportsmanship Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, staff, and parents
    • Knowledge of NJSIAA rules and regulations, and willingness to comply with school district policies
    • Valid CPR/AED/Basic First Aid Certification
    • Successful completion of all required training, including but not limited to, concussion and cardiac training, as well as any other courses mandated by the district, NJSIAA, or other relevant governing bodies
