Program Leadership & Culture
Promote a team-first environment aligned with district values of excellence, accountability, selflessness, integrity, leadership, and pride.
Create a welcoming and safe environment where all athletes feel valued, respected, and motivated.
Uphold high standards of sportsmanship and model ethical, respectful conduct.
Support a culture where effort, humility, and collaboration are celebrated.
Student-Athlete Development
Teach sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for the middle school level.
Foster a growth mindset in student-athletes, emphasizing grit, effort, and resilience.
Support academic and emotional well-being in coordination with school staff.
Encourage leadership opportunities and personal accountability among athletes.
Practice & Game Management
Plan and conduct organized practices that emphasize safety, skill-building, and teamwork.
Collaborate with fellow coaches and the athletic director to coordinate logistics, equipment, and supervision.
Ensure that all athletes meet eligibility and behavioral expectations set by the school and district.
Provide appropriate feedback and encouragement during competitions and practices.
Communication & Relationships
Maintain open, respectful communication with athletes, families, and school staff.
Partner with parents to support a positive and unified team culture.
Build strong, trust-based relationships with students that contribute to their development and belonging.
Encourage community pride and engagement in middle school athletics.

District Overview: The School District of Altoona serves students in Early Childhood through Grade 12 in Altoona, WI. Altoona is located in west central Wisconsin in the heart of the Chippewa Valley and is currently one of the fastest growing cities in Wisconsin. Contiguous to Eau Claire, Altoona has easy access to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Chippewa Valley Technical College. The School District of Altoona serves a student population of 1,800+ students.
