    Description

    ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a GIS Technician, Entry-level to join our team supporting the Census Bureau in Suitland, MD. US Citizenship is required as is CURRENTLY residing in the Maryland/Virginia/DC area. ASRC Federal offers an excellent benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement, certification reimbursement and more. This program offers a hybrid work schedule with a mixture of working remotely and some on-site work. This position will be focused on tasks related to maintaining accuracy and completeness of the Census MAF (Master Address File)/TIGER (Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing System) Database (MTDB), required changes to boundaries, streets, and addresses are identified and digitized as needed primarily through Census proprietary software.

    Requirements:

    Must be a US Citizenship and presently residing in the DC/MD/VA area.Certificate in Cartography or GIS, an Associates degree in Geography or GIS, or a Bachelor's degree in Geography or GIS (will consider other degrees such as Environmental Science).Internship experience is a plus;Coursework/ project or labs with ArcGIS (workstation and desktop); Arc View, AutoCAD Map.Good organizational and communication skills.Some knowledge of civil engineering, cartography surveying and drafting.Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Imagery, and understanding of Databases.Ability to work as a member of a team.Ability to share GIS knowledge with other team members.

    Responsibilities:

    This is a direct position in GIS data enhancement and maintenance using ESRI and custom GIS software.Evaluate, edit, and check street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers (graphics and attributes), using custom map production tools.Using computer software will include revisions and edits of GIS drawings and files. Edits made according to the instructions provided by the supervisors.Additions or deletions of highlighted boundary or shape filesReading instruction provided with the shape filesReshaping road layers that should not be over lapping with the Hydro layersMaintaining live spatial data in a secured environment.Editing, modifying, and creating various data layers.Will maintain daily production schedule and work with customized data automation tools and procedures
