    Job Summary
    The Geologist Assistant supports environmental and infrastructure projects by performing field sampling, site investigations, and technical reporting for federal, state, local, and commercial clients. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with analytical data review and documentation to support environmental compliance and remediation initiatives.
    The position requires strong technical knowledge of soil classification, groundwater sampling, and environmental regulations, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a consulting environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Assist with environmental field activities including:
      • Soil logging and classification
      • Air monitoring during investigations and remediation
      • Installation of groundwater monitoring wells
      • Soil and groundwater sample collection for laboratory analysis
      • Collection of soil for physical testing
    • Support development of soil and groundwater sampling plans
    • Compile and analyze soil, air, and groundwater analytical data
    • Assist with proposal preparation and environmental report writing
    • Coordinate subcontractors for field investigations and remediation efforts
    • Coordinate laboratory analysis for accurate sample identification
    • Conduct on-site field monitoring to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permit requirements
    • Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with company policies and standards

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related Environmental Science field
    • Related environmental consulting experience
    • Basic knowledge of:
      • Standard geological techniques and principles
      • Unified Soil Classification System
      • Glacial deposits, hydrogeology, and groundwater sampling
      • OSHA, CERCLA, and remedial design
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Ability to qualify for and maintain company vehicle driving privileges
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Hazardous site assessment experience (Phase I, Phase II, remediation)
    • Basic knowledge of ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator
    • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA
    • Campus or community involvement demonstrating leadership
    • Strong collaboration, organization, and team-building skills

    Work Authorization Requirement
    Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship or restrictions.

    Work Environment
    • Onsite field-based position in Kansas City, MO
    • Fieldwork required in various environmental conditions
    • Must meet Motor Vehicle Safety Policy requirements
