Provide genetic counseling for patients in Orlando Health Service Line as assigned. This includes evaluation and explanation of a family's risk of an inherited medical condition.

Responsibilities:
Education
- Masters in Genetic Counseling required
License & Certificiation
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible (18 months to complete requirement) by American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or American Board of Genetic Counselors.
Experience
- 0-3 years of work experience in clinical genetic counseling
Qualifications:
Essential Functions
- Obtain and review patient’s medical and family histories.
Help assess a patient’s history in order to determine if the family may benefit from genetic testing.
Facilitate the process of genetic testing.
Assist patients and their healthcare providers in the interpretation of genetic test results.
Formulate a medical management plan based on the patient’s history, family history, and genetic test results.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Support the missions of the service line/hospital/department and Orlando Health to provide high quality, patient-centered care.
Maintain a proactive interaction with all OH team members and leaders
Successful demonstration of entry level competencies: pedigree taking, dictation skills, computer literacy, etc.
Chart preparation and medical records review.
Document patient interactions through patient and physician summary letters.
Stay abreast of the latest research relating to genetics and genetic testing options.
Educate other healthcare providers and the general public about genetics.
Maintains required records, reports and files.
Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
Attend at least 1 professional education mtg per year.
Maintain appropriate annual mandatory education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
