Purpose:
Teach

evaluate
swimming
and
water
safety
classes
for
people
of
various
ages
and
abilities,
ensuring
a
safe,
educational,

enjoyable
aquatic
environment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High
School
diploma
or
equivalent
Current
or
previous
First
Aid,
AED,
and/or
Advanced
CPR
Certifications,
American
Red
Cross
or
Ellis
Current
or
previous
Water
Safety
Instructor
Certification
or
equivalent
Experience:
Minimum
of
one
(1)
year
of
experience
with
instruction
and/or
lessons
Special
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge
of
customer
service
practices
and
techniques
Knowledge
of
occupational
health
and
safety
regulations
and
procedures
Knowledge
of
GISD
policies
and
procedures
Ability
to
work
with
young
children

Aquatic

Major
Responsibilities
and
Duties:
1.
Ensures
patron
safety
by
strictly
enforcing
rules
and
regulations.
2.
Instructs
GISD
students
in
the
established
curriculum
for
the
Water
Safety
Program.
3.
Follows
direction
for
instruction
by
immediate
supervisor
and/or
Aquatic
Manager.
4.
Performs
CPR,
Rescue
Breathing,
or
First
Aid
as
needed.
5.
Instructs
district
students
in
water.
6.
Informs
the
Pool
Manager
or
supervisor
of
unsafe
conditions
or
activity
inside
and
the
areas
surrounding
the
facility.
7.
Informs
the
pool
manager
or
supervisor
of
needed
materials
and
equipment.
8.
Resolve
customer
complaints
and
concerns.
9.
Learns
the
operation
and
maintenance
of
the
facility
as
neede d.
10.
Perform
all
other
duties
as
assigned.
