Purpose:
To
ensure
the
safety
and
well-being
of
students
within
educational
settings.
Responsible
for
implementing
intervention
programs
and
strategies
to
address
various
safety
concerns
such
as
bullying,
violence,
substance
abuse,
and
mental
health
issues.
By
collaborating
with
school
administrators,
teachers,
and
counselors
to
create
a
positive
and
secure
learning
environment
for
all
students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Master's
degree
in
a
related
field
Valid
Texas
teaching
certificate-School
Counselor
OR
Licensed
Professional
Counselor-
LPC,
as
well
as
Licensed
Marriage
and
Family
Therapist
(LMFT),
or
Licensed
Master
Social
Worker-
LMSW
Experience:
Minimum
of
three
(3)
years
of
teaching
experience
with
demonstrated
student
success
as
measured
by
district
standards
(e.g.,
STAAR,
District
Benchmarks,
Curriculum
Assessments,
etc.).
Special
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge
of
evidence-based
practices
in
school
safety,
crisis
intervention,
and
behavior
management
Ability
to
plan
and
provide
small
group
intervention
for
students
identified
as
at-risk
Assist
teachers
in
working
with
at-risk
students
Compile,
maintain,
and
file
reports
and
records
of
programs
Coordinate,
implement,
and
monitor
at-risk
programs
Ability
to
analyze
campus
data
Demonstrated
leadership
skills
at
the
campus
level
Serve
as
a
resource
for
classroom
teachers
with
strategies,
plans,
and
materials

staff
development
on
campus
Major
Responsibilities
and
Duties:
Instructional
Program
1.
Provide
leadership
to
instructional
staff
in
evaluating
and
selecting
materials
to
meet
student
intervention
needs.
2.
Systematically
monitors
the
effectiveness
of
intervention
programs
and
provides
continuous
support
to
instructional
staff
and
campus
principals
to
achieve
campus
and
district
goals.
3.
Assist
in
preparing
reports,
recommendations,
and
inventories
relative
to
intervention
programming.
4.
Implement
evidence-based
intervention
programs
tailored
to
the
school's
specific
safety
needs,
including
anti-bullying
initiatives,
conflict-resolution
strategies,
mental
health
awareness
campaigns,
substance-abuse
prevention
programs,
and
emergency
response
protocols.
5.
Conduct
thorough
assessments
of
the
school
environment
to
identify
safety
risks
and
areas
for
improvement.
6.
Evaluate
the
effectiveness
of
intervention
programs
through
data
collection,
surveys,
and
feedback
mechanisms,
and
make
necessary
adjustments
to
enhance
outcomes.
7.
Provide
training
sessions
and
workshops
for
school
staff,
students,
and
parents
on
safety,
crisis
management,
conflict
resolution,
and
mental
health
awareness.
8.
Promote
a
culture
of
safety
and
support
within
the
school
community.
9.
Serve
as
a
resource
and
point
of
contact
for
addressing
safety
concerns
and
emergencies
within
the
school.
10.
Develop
crisis
response
protocols
and
coordinate
with
relevant
authorities
and
agencies
to
ensure
swift,
effective
responses
to
critical
incidents.
11.
Establish
collaborative
partnerships
with
community
organizations,
law
enforcement
agencies,
mental
health
professionals,
and
other
stakeholders
to
leverage
resources
and
expertise
in
promoting
school
safety.
12.
Foster
a
network
of
support
to
address
complex
safety
issues
comprehensively.
13.
Advocate
for
students'
needs
and
promote
policies
and
practices
that
prioritize
safety,
equity,
and
inclusion
within
the
school
environment.
14.
Engage
with
parents,
community
members,
and
policymakers
to
raise
awareness
of
the
importance
of
safe
schools
and
to
garner
support
for
preventive
measures.
15.
Supports
principals'
and
teachers'
efforts
to
meet
district
goals,
as
measured
by
the
Texas
Academic
Performance
Standards,
to
improve
overall
performance.
16.
Systematically
monitors
the
effectiveness
of
intervention
programs
by
observations
and
analysis
of
campus
and
district
test
data.
17.
Cooperates
with
other
district
staff
to
develop
the
mission
and
articulate
the
vision
for
the
district's
intervention
program.

18.
Articulate
the
district's
mission,
instructional
philosophy,
and
intervention
programming
to
the
community
and
solicit
support
in
realizing
its
mission.
19.
Demonstrate
awareness

district-community

and
initiate
activities

address

techniques

encourage

parent
