Darley and Summerbridge Primary School Federation is seeking to appoint a compassionate, dedicated and resilient SEN General Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with high needs at Summerbridge Primary School.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusion and committed to supporting children to achieve their full potential.

The Role

You will work closely with the class teacher to support a pupil with complex needs, ensuring they can access learning and make meaningful progress both academically and socially.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's individual education plan (IEP/EHCP)
• Supporting the child's communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
• Implementing agreed strategies and interventions
• Promoting positive behaviour and independence
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, parents and external professionals
• Supporting the child during classroom activities, transitions and unstructured times

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have experience of working with children with SEN, particularly high needs (desirable but not essential)
• Be patient, calm and nurturing, with a flexible approach
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of inclusive practice
• Be able to build positive relationships with children and staff
• Have good communication and teamwork skills
• Be willing to undertake relevant training
