Overview
The General Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of The Twelfth, Marin County s first women s sports bar. This role will be responsible for the overall guest experience, kitchen operations, and inventory management for a fast-casual space in downtown San Rafael.
Responsibilities include hiring and training the opening team, establishing operational systems, shaping service standards, and helping bring the vision of The Twelfth to life. The General Manager reports directly to ownership and collaborates closely to create an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for women s sports fans.

Job Responsibilities
Operations and Leadership
Oversee all daily bar and restaurant operations
Build and document operating systems and SOPs to standardize how the bar runs
Develop and maintain the employee handbook
Hire, train, coach, and manage kitchen staff
Plan shift schedules
Ensure compliance with labor laws, breaks, and scheduling requirements
Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and sanitation
Troubleshoot operational challenges in real time
Community, Culture, and Guest Experience
Ensure staff represent The Twelfth's mission
Build a team culture centered on teamwork, care, and pride in cultivating an inclusive and safe community
Set and uphold hospitality standards that make everyone feel equally welcome
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with alcohol licensing, responsible service laws, and internal policies
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards and conduct regular internal checks
Monitor service execution to control waste, manage costs, and maintain quality
Inventory and Cost Control
Develop and implement inventory management systems and processes for bar and food programs
Manage inventory levels and usage trends across both bar and food programs
Research, establish, and manage vendor contracts and accounts
Approve and adjust orders in collaboration with bar and kitchen staff
Track costs, sales, and margins and report monthly on COGS
Ensure accurate receiving, storage, counts, and loss prevention
Candidate Profile
At least 2 years of management experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with customer first mindset
Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and cost control
Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail programs
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-style environment
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks
Passion for hospitality, community, and women s sports
Strong organizational and computer skills
Ability for sustained attention and concentration
Current Responsible Beverage Service certification
