Mast Market is a hospitality and community-driven, market & cafe with locations in Bedford, NY and NYC's Upper West Side.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for experienced, hospitality-driven leaders to manage our location in New York City's Upper West Side. This position will report directly to ownership and will manage both the market and cafe, overseeing a crew of 12-15. Duties include inventory management, placing orders, customer service, merchandising, product education, scheduling, facility and equipment maintenance, light bookkeeping and financial reporting. This position requires an energetic, positive, organized, and pro-active manager who can provide calm leadership in a busy and demanding setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations for the market and cafe, ensuring adherence to MAST standards. This includes maintaining a clean, inviting environment and managing facility maintenance. Reports directly to ownership.
  • Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor staff (baristas, retail associates, supervisors). GMs set expectations, fostering a high-performance, positive culture and manage employee scheduling and performance reviews.
  • Customer Experience: Act as the "face" of the establishment, engaging with guests and resolving complaints to ensure premium service levels.
  • Financial Management: Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) performance. Key tasks include managing budgets, monitoring labor and food costs, tracking waste, analyzing sales data, and driving revenue growth through strategic initiatives.
  • Inventory & Vendor Relations: Oversee specialty product sourcing, ordering, manage inventory cycles, and maintain relationships with high-quality vendors to ensure product availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Product & Menu Strategy: Manage standards through consistent quality controls of the cafe. Collaborate with culinary teams to develop seasonal menu offerings and curate market selections.
  • Marketing & Community Engagement: Drive local brand loyalty by coordinating with marketing teams on promotional campaigns, social media, and community events.
  • Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as well as labor laws.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Three years of hospitality management experience in a market, grocery, cafe, retail and/or food business.
  • Barista experience
  • Food Safety certified
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead and build strong relationships with colleagues and employees.
  • Charismatic, outgoing self-starter with pride and passion for great customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • Kind, thorough, reliable, and team-oriented.
