    Description

    A Day in the Life

No two days in hospitality are exactly the same, and as General Manager, you're at the center of it all. You're responsible for creating a hotel where guests want to return, team members want to work, and the business performs. That means building a strong team, maintaining high standards, understanding the numbers, and taking ownership of the property from the front door to the bottom line.

You may spend part of your day coaching a department leader, walking guestrooms with your housekeeping team, reviewing financial performance, preparing for a Marriott brand inspection, partnering with Sales and Revenue Management, or stepping in to resolve a guest concern. As General Manager, you set the tone; balancing people, performance, and the guest experience while keeping your team focused on what matters most: a great hotel, a strong team, and results you can be proud of.

    What You'll Own

As General Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for the hotel's operations and performance, including:

    • Leading, coaching, and developing department leaders and hotel associates
    • Creating a positive, accountable, and service-focused workplace culture
    • Driving guest satisfaction and responding effectively to guest feedback
    • Maintaining Marriott brand standards and ensuring brand compliance
    • Overseeing rooms, housekeeping, front office, engineering, and other hotel operations
    • Managing staffing levels, scheduling, productivity, and labor costs
    • Recruiting, developing, recognizing, and retaining great team members
    • Reviewing financial performance, forecasts, budgets, and operating expenses
    • Partnering with Sales and Revenue Management to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall hotel performance
    • Taking an active role in the local market and building relationships that support the hotel's success
    • Maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained property
    • Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable employment practices
    • Building strong relationships with guests, associates, ownership, Marriott, vendors, and community partners
    • Taking ownership of challenges and following through until they are resolved

    The Leader We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys leading a hotel—not simply managing one.

You understand that great results come from great teams. You're comfortable reviewing a P&L in the morning, coaching a department leader in the afternoon, and helping a guest five minutes later. You're visible, approachable, organized, and willing to jump in when your team needs you.

You hold people accountable while treating them with respect. You recognize strong performance, address problems rather than allowing them to linger, and create clear expectations for your team.

    Most importantly, you understand hospitality.

You know that every interaction matters, and you lead by example in creating an environment where guests feel welcomed, team members feel valued, and people take pride in the hotel they represent.
