General Manager

Our client is an established Massachusetts cannabis operator with cultivation, post-harvest, wholesale, and retail operations. The company has built a strong presence within the Massachusetts market and is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee the continued performance and growth of its Berkley-based operation.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the operational, financial, and organizational performance of the facility. The General Manager will oversee cultivation, post-harvest, compliance, inventory, wholesale fulfillment, and retail operations while ensuring the business meets production targets, regulatory requirements, financial objectives, and customer demand.
This is a highly visible leadership role within a lean, entrepreneurial organization. The General Manager will partner closely with an experienced leadership team, serving as the primary operational liaison to ownership while providing steady, collaborative leadership and supporting the continued growth of the business.
MUST HAVE
- Experience working within a Massachusetts-licensed cannabis facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) regulations.
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Director of Operations, Site Leader, or equivalent senior operational leader.
- Hands-on experience utilizing Metrc for seed-to-sale inventory management and regulatory compliance.
- Experience developing or supporting wholesale cannabis sales within the Massachusetts market.
- Experience overseeing cannabis production, post-harvest, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience managing P&L performance, budgeting, and facility-level financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of commercial cannabis operations and the Massachusetts wholesale landscape.
- Experience overseeing bookkeeping or facility-level financial administration.
- Ability to work onsite in Berkley, Massachusetts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day cultivation, post-harvest, compliance, inventory, wholesale, and retail operations.
- Establish operational priorities, KPIs, and performance expectations across all departments.
- Drive operational efficiency while ensuring production, quality, financial, and business objectives are achieved.
- Identify operational challenges and implement practical, scalable solutions.
- Build a collaborative culture of accountability, communication, and operational excellence.
Cultivation & Production Performance
- Partner with cultivation leadership to improve plant health, crop performance, yield, and product quality.
- Oversee production planning, harvest scheduling, inventory management, post-harvest operations, and third-party manufacturing coordination.
- Monitor operational KPIs, including yield, labor efficiency, production forecasting, and cost performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across cultivation, post-harvest, and operational workflows.
Compliance & Financial Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Massachusetts cannabis regulations and company policies.
- Maintain inspection readiness and oversee regulatory audits, inventory controls, and Metrc reporting.
- Oversee budgets, labor costs, financial reporting, and provide detailed operational updates to ownership.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, resource utilization, and overall business performance.
Commercial & Retail Oversight
- Support wholesale sales growth by leveraging relationships within the Massachusetts cannabis market and partnering with ownership on commercial initiatives.
- Coordinate inventory planning and product availability across cultivation, post-harvest, wholesale, and retail.
- Partner with ownership and external sales resources to support wholesale growth and long-term commercial objectives.
Organizational & Strategic Leadership
- Support and empower an established leadership team while fostering trust, collaboration, and accountability across the organization.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture by supporting team morale, strengthening cross-functional communication, and integrating effectively with an established leadership team.
- Partner with ownership to maintain operational stability and support strategic business initiatives.
- Serve as the primary operational liaison to ownership by providing detailed operational, financial, and business performance reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of leadership experience within a licensed cannabis operation.
- Experience overseeing cultivation, post-harvest, wholesale, or vertically integrated cannabis operations.
- Experience supporting wholesale cannabis sales or commercial business development is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing cross-functional operational teams.
- Strong working knowledge of Massachusetts cannabis regulations and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience utilizing Metrc in a commercial cannabis environment.
- Experience managing operational budgets, financial performance, and business reporting.
Compensation
In compliance with Massachusetts Pay Transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this role is $120,000–$150,000 USD annually. In addition to base salary, the compensation package includes a bonus and additional compensation opportunities, with a comprehensive benefits program.
