    Job Title: General Maintenance Worker FLSA: Nonexempt

    Reports to: Executive Director/Director - Pay Grade: Auxiliary/Class 2 Maintenance Calendar Days: 257 Dept./School: Maintenance Department Bamberg Revised: 4.11.2024 The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout district, and assists with maintenance of grounds.

    Education/Certification:

    • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent field experience in lieu of education requirement)
    • Trade License as required by state local authorities
    • Valid Texas Driver's License
    • Eligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance program

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
    • Ability to operate hand and power tools
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
    • Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
    • Ability to measure and perform mathematical calculations
    • Ability to work independently
    • Knowledge of state and local building codes

      1. Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass
      2. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs
      3. Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment
      4. Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman
      5. Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds

        1. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials
        2. Attend training classes and seminars as directed
        3. Follow District Policy, Administration Guidelines, and Employee Handbook/Supplement directives
        4. Perform other duties as assigned Safety
        5. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
