    Job Description

    Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a General Maintenance Technician to support building operations and maintenance at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. This hands-on role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting facility issues, and completing general repairs including basic carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance work. The technician will respond to service requests, keep maintenance records up to date, and help ensure campus facilities remain safe and operational. This is an evening-shift position that requires someone who can work independently with little to no direct supervision. Ideal candidates have experience as a maintenance technician, building maintenance worker, facilities technician, handyman, custodian, or skilled trades professional and take pride in reliable, high-quality work.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Perform general building maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing repairs, and unclogging sinks, drains, and toilets
    • Complete preventive maintenance (PM) tasks as scheduled and maintain accurate maintenance records
    • Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations as needed
    • Troubleshoot facility issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
    • Inspect building systems, equipment, and facility components for proper operation
    • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, and tools
    • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and accounted for
    • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Support the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of campus facilities
    • Work independently during evening hours with limited supervision
    • Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with students, staff, visitors, and coworkers
    • Assist with additional facility maintenance projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, building maintenance, property maintenance, or a related trade
    • Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and general repair techniques
    • Experience unclogging drains, repairing fixtures, and completing routine maintenance tasks
    • Ability to complete preventive maintenance activities and maintain accurate work records
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision
    • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, bend, stoop, climb, and stand/walk for extended periods
    • Ability to follow safety procedures and work safely around facility equipment
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between campus locations if needed

    Preferred

    • HVAC certification or HVAC maintenance experience
    • Experience working in a college, school, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, or commercial facilities environment
    • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and equipment maintenance
    • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
