Mayfield Ice Cream is looking for a dependable, self-motivated General Laborer - Freezer Clean-Up to help keep our freezer warehouse and surrounding areas clean, organized, and safe.

This is a hands-on job that is a great fit for someone who likes a routine, takes pride in their work, and doesn't need someone looking over their shoulder to stay productive.

No previous warehouse or sanitation experience is required. We can teach you the job. What matters most is that you show up, work safely, take ownership of your responsibilities, and look for ways to help when your regular work is complete.

Pay & Benefits

Starting pay: $21.15 per hour

Eligible employees receive an excellent benefits package after 60 days of employment, including:

  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Company 401(k) match
  • Additional monthly company retirement contribution, independent of the company match

That means the company contributes toward your retirement in two ways: through the 401(k) match and through a separate monthly company contribution (regardless if you contribute).

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibility will be maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and safety of our freezer warehouse and surrounding areas. Much of the work follows a regular routine and includes:

  • Sweeping and mopping warehouse and work areas
  • Cleaning employee breakrooms, restrooms, and common areas
  • Removing cardboard, shrink wrap, packaging materials, trash, and other debris
  • Taking cardboard to the baler and waste to designated dumpsters or containers
  • Keeping warehouse aisles, dock doors, loading areas, and other high-traffic areas clean and clear
  • Cleaning exterior areas, including portions of the parking lot and areas surrounding the warehouse
  • Breaking down boxes and other materials
  • Completing general housekeeping and sanitation tasks
  • Moving, stacking, loading, or unloading materials, cases, crates, pallets, or supplies as needed
  • Delivering supplies or materials to designated work areas
  • Assisting freezer warehouse employees and leadership with other tasks as needed
  • Reporting unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, quality issues, or other irregularities
  • Completing required paperwork accurately and legibly

A Job for Someone Who Sees What Needs to Be Done

This position works somewhat independently. You will have regular cleaning and housekeeping responsibilities, but a supervisor will not be directing your every move throughout the day. Successful employees in this role stay productive without constant supervision. That means:

  • Following your regular cleaning and housekeeping routine without repeated reminders
  • Managing your time and completing assigned responsibilities
  • Noticing when something needs attention and taking appropriate action
  • Checking with teammates or leadership for additional work when your regular tasks are complete
  • Being willing to pitch in and help wherever needed
  • Taking the same pride in your work whether someone is watching or not

If you're someone who naturally looks around and asks, "What needs to be done next?", you'll probably fit this job very well.
