Construction General Laborer
Job Summary
The General Laborer supports crews on residential and commercial job sites by performing physical tasks that keep projects moving safely and on schedule. This is an entry-level role with hands-on training and a clear path to skilled trades.
Responsibilities
Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment around the job site
Prepare and clean work areas, including site setup, debris removal, and daily cleanup
Dig, backfill, and grade trenches and foundations using hand tools and light equipment
Assist carpenters, masons, and other skilled tradespeople with framing, concrete, and demolition tasks
Operate hand and power tools such as shovels, jackhammers, saws, and drills
Set up and take down scaffolding, barricades, and temporary structures
Direct traffic and maintain safety perimeters as needed
Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and report hazards immediately
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior construction or physical labor experience a plus, but not required
Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and work on your feet for extended periods
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
OSHA 10 certification preferred (training provided if needed)
Must be at least 18 years old and pass a pre-employment drug screen
Schedule and Compensation
Full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays
$15–$30/hour depending on experience, with overtime available
Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) after 90 days
Physical Requirements
Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting. Exposure to noise, dust, and variable weather.
