    About Tahoe Expedition Academy

Tahoe Expedition Academy (TEA) is a PreK–12 independent school in Truckee, California, dedicated to empowering a new generation of creative problem solvers with a social conscience. Founded on an experiential approach to education built around Constructive Adversity®, TEA challenges students to move beyond their comfort zones, develop intellectual curiosity, and build the skills and confidence to take on the world's biggest challenges.

TEA combines rigorous academics with hands-on, real-world learning. Students are encouraged to think critically, pursue meaningful questions, and apply their knowledge beyond the traditional classroom. Through interdisciplinary projects and experiential fieldwork, academic concepts become tangible, relevant, and connected to the world around them.

Learning at TEA extends far beyond campus. Students spend many days and nights in the field, traveling regionally, nationally, and internationally including Belize, Costa Rica, Washington DC, and Chicago to name a few places. The wilderness is a classroom, so is a city council meeting. These experiences prepare students to navigate unfamiliar environments, take initiative, and understand their role in the broader community.

TEA graduates are prepared to pursue ambitious academic pathways, with college acceptances including Stanford University, Columbia University, UC Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles and New York University. Through a strong academic foundation and individualized college guidance, TEA prepares students not only for success at highly regarded universities but also to become thoughtful leaders who make a meaningful impact on the world.
