Join "The Best School on the Planet"-Full-time Instructional Assistant. Duties may include servicing students in Special Education as well. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing instructional support to special/general education students, working 1:1 with students, supporting students during lunch, recess times, and with hygiene needs. The Instructional Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher in North Cape School whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting the lesson plan of the licensed teacher, providing technical assistance to the teacher, helping with classroom control or management, and other duties as assigned. The district will provide training as appropriate in reading, math, and social/behavioral strategies to ensure the Instructional Assistant is able to successfully support General Education students and students with disabilities under the direct supervision of a licensed special education teacher.
Candidates should possess effective communication skills, note taking skills and a strong desire to work with elementary and middle school students. Also, experience working with students with Autism and other diverse needs a plus. Assistive technology devices and training in NVCI (Non-violent crisis intervention) desired. Successful applicants will be required to apply for special education aide licensure through the Department of Public Instruction and complete NVCI training as a contingency of employment.
