Travel: Occasional travel may be required up to 10%

Salary: $180,000 + annually*

We are seeking a Senior General Operations Manager to provide operational leadership and management support for a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contract supporting Space Systems Command, Space Sensing Directorate (SSC/SN).

The selected candidate will oversee day-to-day contract operations, personnel coordination, customer engagement, deliverable execution, staffing, quality control, and performance management across a multidisciplinary aerospace and systems engineering team supporting missile warning, missile tracking, missile defense, battlespace awareness, technical intelligence, and related space systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily SETA contract operations in accordance with the Performance Work Statement, contract requirements, and customer priorities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for government stakeholders, contract leadership, task leads, and supported engineering teams.
  • Coordinate staffing, onboarding, workforce planning, workload distribution, leave coverage, and employee performance.
  • Supervise and mentor personnel across engineering, program management, logistics, cybersecurity, mission assurance, and technical disciplines.
  • Establish and maintain operational processes for task management, deliverable tracking, quality control, issue resolution, and customer communication.
  • Monitor contract performance, staffing levels, labor utilization, schedule status, risks, and key performance indicators.
  • Lead recurring status meetings, operational reviews, staff meetings, and customer engagements.
  • Coordinate responses to government tasking, requests for information, data calls, action items, and executive-level requirements.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of reports, briefings, technical products, and contract deliverables.
  • Support integrated master schedule reviews, risk management, dependency tracking, corrective-action planning, and organizational readiness assessments.
  • Identify operational challenges and develop Courses of Action to resolve staffing, schedule, performance, resource, and communication issues.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with SSC/SN leadership, program offices, mission partners, contractors, and operational stakeholders.
  • Support proposal activities, workforce transitions, recruiting, employee retention, and business-growth initiatives.
  • Ensure personnel comply with company policies, security requirements, customer procedures, and applicable contract obligations.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and a customer-focused team culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in operations management, program management, contract management, aerospace, defense, or SETA support.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing or supervising multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Space Force, Air Force, or other federal acquisition programs.
  • Experience managing contract operations, staffing, deliverables, schedules, risks, performance metrics, and customer requirements.
  • Strong understanding of organizational processes, workforce planning, quality management, and operational execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with senior leaders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and operate effectively in a fast-paced government-contractor environment.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Management, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting SSC/SN, missile warning/missile tracking, OPIR, SBIRS, FORGE, Next-Generation GEO or Polar systems, or related space programs.
  • Prior experience serving as a Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, Operations Manager, Site Lead, or Contract Manager.
  • Experience managing SETA, Systems Engineering and Integration, technical advisory, or professional services contracts.
  • Experience with workforce forecasting, Basis of Estimate development, staffing plans, labor-category management, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, PWS/SOW requirements, CDRLs, contract deliverables, and government reporting requirements.
  • Experience with Agile operations, integrated master schedules, risk registers, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, recruiting, employee engagement, and transition planning.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed or cross-functional teams.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
