First application review date will be 5/29/2026.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting – 40%Provides records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions, balancing books periodically, and preparing profit and loss, income, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.Performs advanced analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and resource allocations.Leads the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of journal entries and general ledger accounts.Interprets complex reports and records for administrators and managers.Internal Controls Expertise – 20%Expert knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.Financial Systems Leadership – 20%Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of one or more comprehensive and complex general accounting systems.Tax Coordination – 10%Coordinates the collection of information for complex and unique Unrelated Business Income Taxes (UBIT), prepares summary schedules, and answers questions from departments.Additional Duties – 10%Performs other tasks as assigned by management or leadership.Provides guidance to others in the department and may serve in a "lead" capacity on project assignments.Ability to function as a team member.RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related area.Expert knowledge of finance policies, practices, and financial information systems; experience independently on large and complex projects that build or enhance production systems.Expert knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle and PeopleSoft.Thorough experience with financial & accounting system transformations or implementations.Expert Excel skills including ability to use spreadsheet and database tools for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.Expert ability to effectively present complex finance related information verbally and in writing in a clear concise manner.Expert interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization, advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail; ability to multi‑task in a high‑volume environment.Ability to adapt to changing priorities.Expert knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.In‑depth knowledge of legal business concepts, accounting principles, and financial reporting.Preferred SkillsProfessional certification CPA and master's degree in related area.UC or higher education experience.Public accounting experience.Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or a related field.Expert knowledge of Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud (FCCS), Amazon Web Services (AWS), SmartView, and/or QuickSight.Experienced in SQL, Power BI, Cognos.Special Conditions of EmploymentMust possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle; ability to travel on a flexible schedule as needed; provide proof of liability insurance on vehicle used.
